NEC leadership in W-CDMA systems comes from a world-class combination of network technologies,
leading-edge products and operational support systems. Our highly integrated solutions are designed for
maximum efficiency. They drastically reduce the time and effort required for you to deploy mobile
multimedia services in your market. NEC solutions help you surge ahead of the competition in building a
profitable 3G business for tomorrow.
W-CDMA Node B
NEC offers a series of FDD Node B equipment, including Macro and Micro configurations.
The Macro Node B has a modular design based on a functional shelf configuration. In the W-CDMA
system, the Node B acts as the radio base station, supporting the mobile subscriber with the wideband
radio link and connecting with the RNC.
W-CDMA RNC
NEC's RNC for UMTS is based on the same platform as the time-proven NEAX61 Σ ATM switch platform allows
flexible configuration in terms of processing power and the number and type of interface.
Duplicated feature packages for the TDD mode, the FDD mode and the combined TDD/FDD mode will be provided.
The RNC itself is based on a modular, scalable platform to allow flexible configuration in terms of processing
power, number of and type of lu/lub/lur interfaces.
The hardware has been designed so that RNC(RN-750) modules can be expanded, or configuration-changed without
degradation of service.

Packet Core Node (SGSN/GGSN)
NEC's SGSN/GGSN is a compact packet core node capable of handling large volumes of IP traffic.
This product is the world's first working model of an ATCA (Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture)
based commercial wireless network equipment. ATCA is the world standard for the basic architecture of
the next generation highly advanced telecom platform set by PICMG (PCI Industrial Computer Manufactures Group)
Forum.
