A-1 Site acquisition and cabling easiness

Installation of RS/RRH is easier than it used to be with conventional Node B, because antenna functionality in RRH can be separated from RS anytime. This is advantageous because no negotiation with site owners is necessary for visiting the site and electricity bill becomes smaller. Therefore, site acquisition and installation costs are reduced significantly by using RS/RRH.

A-2 Compliance to CPRI standard and its benefits

Common IF for HW based on CPRI reduces prices of HW. In addition, UTRAN venders can catch up with the technology, for the latest chipset, at ease for the competition. CPRI is one of the industrial standard and jointly developed by
  • NEC Corporation,
  • Siemens AG,
  • Ericsson AB,
  • Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd,
  • Nortel Networks SA

A-3 Cell configuration - Flexible and scalable

RRH with low power consumption boosts RF capacity in all RS and Node B. RS880 can supports up to 6 RRH. One RS with some Macro RRH and some Pico RRH is available for a complex cell configuration. This flexibility and scalability contribute to CAPEX and OPEX reduction.
