UESOLTA in combination with a scanner and test UEs forms NEC's drive test solution, where the scanner acts as a RF receiver and the UEs conduct phone-based tests including call setup, service performance measurement, and protocol monitoring while the UESOLTA logs the measurement data.

UESOLTA (UE Log Collection Tool for UE Tuning)

The UE Solution Terminal (UESOLTA) is a drive test and area patrol tool that provides UE measurement capabilities for UMTS radio access network. The UESOLTA runs on a Windows environment and connects to a scanner as well as test UEs.

Scanner (RF Scanner)

Where the scanner is equipped with a Global Positioning System (GPS) or a GPS is directly connected instead of the scanner, the UESOLTA combines the positional data obtained from the GPS with the UE measurement data. The UESOLTA also displays measurement data on a real-time basis and saves the data to the database, or outputs it in Comma Separated Value (CSV) format for post-processing.
